Timber in Construction:  Driving Net Zero

We are delighted to be delivering Holyrood a Timber in Construction Showcase to MSPs at Holyrood.

The Scottish Timber Trade Association in partnership with national trade bodies, Confor, Timber Development UK, Structural Timber Association, Wood Panel Industries, with support from BE:ST and Napier University are coming together for a first time united showcase to MSPs on how this low carbon, sustainable product is supporting the delivery of Net Zero.

The event will have 8 showcase tables covering different aspects of the Industry detailing: The naturally circularity of Industry, Scotland’s C16 and Panel products Industry, The responsible sourcing of its imported timbers; the economic value and importance the timber industry and its merchants bring to Scotland; Critical timber education courses and value add innovations for decarbonisation, including a showcase of three Napier students sustainable construction project; We highlight the carbon credential of timber and the extensive decarbonsation of our businesses.

We are extremely proud of our Timber Industry in Scotland and all the aspects of its supply chain which deliver low carbon solutions to the construction market.

Did you know that Scotland leads the way with having over 90% timber frame for new housebuilds? Scottish timber engineering businesses have pioneered offsite construction. England has 9% timber frame construction and we all have 2050 (2045) net zero targets.

The Time for Timber is Now.

The Timber in Construction Roadmap and the Climate Change Committee clearly state to build more in timber.

We are really looking forward to showcasing our industry to our MSPs and demonstrate its drive to support net zero.

We would like to thank our evenings sponsors Mr Fergus Ewing MSP and Mr Willie Rennie MSP for their support.
