The Scottish Timber Trade Association has entered into a three year sponsorship programme with the Centre for Timber Engineering at Napier University in Edinburgh. Student prizes will be provided for three years; with three prize awarded in 2006 and four prizes in both 2007 and 2008.

The award categories are; Best timber related Final Year project, Best design project by a second year Architectural Technology student, Best performance by a second year BSc Civil & Timber Engineering student and Best performance by a Timber Engineering or Timber Industry Management Masters student.

As the organisation which represents the technical and commercial interests of the timber industry in Scotland, the STTA is committed to promoting the greater use of wood and wood products. Our aim is to make timber the material of choice for the widest range of appropriate end uses. By supporting the Centre of Timber Engineering and offering prizes for high performing students, STTA hopes to encourage current and future students to appreciate the versatility of wood and wood products.
